Our Story

Since 1904, the Davila family has impacted the San Antonio community. Their story started when Frank Davila Sr. opened a small grocery store on the corner of El Paso St. and Colorado. This small business later evolved into four grocery stores and the popular Davila’s and The Derby Drive Ins under the supervision of Rodolfo Davila Sr. and his wife, Delia!

Later, in 1955, Rodolfo Davila Jr. opened Davila Pharmacy in order to meet the needs of the growing community in which he and his wife Dorothy, sister Mary Louise and brothers Frank II and Alfonso were born and raised. The pharmacy was adjacent to the first Davila Food Store at the time.

Today, the fourth generation of the Davila family, continues to be part of San Antonio and Texas’s healthcare community with the continued success of Davila Pharmacy, now located at 1423 Guadalupe St., four blocks from Frank Davila Sr. Davila Pharmacy has also been listed as one of the Top 500 Hispanic owned companies in the nation since 1996.
